What Is A Demand Side Platform

Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) are the central tool that advertisers use to reach millions of people every day, across the web, apps, connected television (CTV), digital out of home, and digital audio. A DSP is a sophisticated digital instrument that helps these businesses grow.

DSPs bring three different resources all into one platform interface. The first is ad inventory -- the ability to reach people across all these disparate parts of the media landscape.

The second is data. In The Trade Desk alone, for example, there are over 750,000 different data segments and over 200 different data providers.

The third is a whole suite of ancillary tools, such as brand safety tools, contextual targeting tools, and viewability tools, to ensure that ads get delivered to the right user at the right time.

DSPs give advertisers the ability to control and optimize and, in short, make an advertising campaign work.
