How To Setup Remarketing Campaigns

How To Setup Remarketing Campaigns

In this post, we’ll talk about a sample intermediate remarketing ad setup. This is for a business that knows how to do something simple, like site remarketing, and wants to make the targeting more robust.

If you do site remarketing you are serving ads to people who are visiting your site. A more advanced way of doing this is by segmenting your audience by the pages they visit. For example, for B2B advertisers, you can remarket to people who visit your landing page as one group, and people who visited every other site on your page as another group.

To do  this in Facebook go to Business Manager, Custom Audiences, and input the URL you want to target. In this setup, you’ll be able to identify the people who visited a specific set of pages on your site, and then whenever those people are seen, we can serve them ads. You can then send one type of creative to people who visited your landing page, and a separate message to people who visited the rest of your site.

From here the opportunities are endless, because you can segment users in a lot of different ways.

On Google Ads, you can do the same setup as you did on Facebook. Something interesting, then, is to identify all YouTube channel visitors, and remarket to those people with an ad that references that speaks to them with the common knowledge that they have seen your specific videos. To deploy this targeting you can go to Google Ads, Tools & Settings, Audience Manager, and choose the YouTube selection.

A third, and yet more advanced option, is to work with a company that runs on The Trade Desk, and segment out users on the site similarly to how you did it on Facebook. So, if you want to identify people who went to a landing page, or a purchase page, banners will run only to the people who have been to those specific URLs on your site.

In the next post we’ll talk about an even more advanced remarketing framework that you can deploy.

Video Transcript: How To Setup Remarketing Campaigns

Welcome welcome to episode number 99 of The Great Reset my name is Robert Brill and I'm the CEO of Brill Media.co we're an advertising firm that drives sales and leads with the best data targeting and technology available in the marketplace and we're here five days a week talking about marketing and advertising so you can learn how to be a better marketing practitioner in this video we'll talk about a simple intermediate remarketing ad setup this is for a business that knows how to do something simple like site remarketing and wants to do something a little bit more complex a little bit more robust and take to learn new things with their remarketing and drive more growth with their remarketing what you'll find is that if you do start remarketing the thought that might occur to you is well I'm sure that some people who visit some pages of my site are more valuable than other people who visit other pages of my site so what this allows us to do is filter and segment audiences from your site visitation so you know which ones are more viable which ones are at least less viable to you what we're really thinking about here are what are the signals that you can target that make it more likely that someone's gonna generate a lead or submit and submit a sale into your business if you do start remarketing you are serving ads to people who visit your site a more advanced way of doing this is by segmenting your audience by the pages they visit so for example you can segment your site into two different audiences for example a b2b advertiser can remarket to people who visit your landing page as one group group a and people who visit every other site on your page except for your landing page as group B now granted group a is probably gonna be a lot smaller group B is probably gonna be a lot bigger but size in this setup is marginally important I mean obviously you need a lot of people the more people you have who are interested in buying the better it is for you but at this stage what you really want to find out is which which set of pages is most valuable to your business so to do this go to Facebook go to business manager and Facebook go to custom audiences and input the URL you want to target in this setup you'll be able to identify the people who visited a specific set of pages on your site and you can do this by either entering a specific URL or if you have multiple landing pages that all have like say brill me that code slash landing if landing isn't part of the URL you have the ability to then say I want to capture every person goes to a page that has the word landing in the URL so you're essentially using boolean logic and whenever those people are seen on Facebook on Instagram on messenger your ads can be served to them you can then send one type of creative to people who visited your landing page or pages so group a and a separate message to people who visited the rest of your site so group a can say thanks for visiting our site I hope you liked our white paper schedule an appointment with us whereas with site with group B the general audience maybe they find you through search engine optimization you might tell them hey thanks for visiting our site like thanks for reading our blog you might be interested in this lead this white paper that we have you might want to download it here from here the opera the opportunities are endless because you can segment users in a lot of different ways and in the next video we'll go into a little bit more detail about how to segment users with more robust targeting now separately on Google Ads you can do the same setup as you did on Facebook something interesting then is to identify all YouTube channel visitors and remark it to those people with an ad that references that speaks to them with the common knowledge that they have seen your specific video so let's take our channel for example when a person watches our video we know that they're interested in marketing and advertising so the ad that I can say is hey we know you're interested in marketing and advertising here's a 70 page recession and marketing guide that you might be interested in downloading that will help you with your marketing and advertising right this is something special because I know that someone has rapport and trust and knowledge about who we are and now it's just a matter of getting these users to convert so to deploy this targeting you can go to Google Ads tools and settings audience manager and choose the YouTube selection and then just simply identify which audiences which actions on YouTube you want these people to take such as visiting your channel liking your videos sharing your videos watching any of your videos subscribing to your channel etc a third and even yet more advanced option is to work with a company that runs on The Trade Desk or MediaMath or basis or RTB IQ and segment out users on the site similarly to how you did it on Facebook so if you want to identify people who went to a landing page or a purchase page banners will run only to the people who have been to those specific URLs on your site so in the next video we'll talk about an even more advanced remarketing framework that you can deploy now if you found this video helpful please let us know by sharing a like hit that like button and for more videos like this about how to be a better
